Environmentalist Marjory Stoneman Douglas, the ardent champion of the Florida Everglades died on Thursday, May 14th 1998.  Her life was an inspiration to all those who treasure nature's gifts.

Florida Gov. Lawton Chiles called Ms. Douglas "a prophet who inspired us to save our  environment for our children and our grandchildren."
