YONKERS, NY
-- January 28, 2003 -- On Tuesday, January 28th Mike Breen officially
announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for the 5th City
Council District seat at his home among a group of neighbors and supporters.
Mike Breen has been a district leader in the 11th Ward for 9 1/2 years. He is currently the co-ward leader with his wife Patty Breen, who in addition to being ward leader, is also the vice chair of the Yonkers Republican Party. Mike Breen is a former president of the 11th Ward Republican Club and is a past president of the Longvale Homeowners Association. He is co-owner of Pondfield Trip Service, a limousine company based in Bronxville which he started in 1980. Mike and Patty moved to Yonkerswith their son in 1984. In 1989, needing a larger home for their 3 children, unlike many families that were leaving Yonkers at that time, the Breens were committed to stay in Yonkers to raise their family. Now with four children, they have resided 14 years in the Longvale section of Yonkers. Mike has been on the sidelines of politics in Yonkers beginning with the Hank Spallone mayoral race in 1991. Getting onto the playing field, Mike will bring his perspective as a businessman to a City Council that could use more members with a business background. |
